WILD REACHES Tests the Yokohama Geolandar G005 on a 3,000km Cape York Journey!

Nath from Wild Reaches just completed another epic journey through Cape York, returning with Cyclone Jasper fresh on the teams tail! On this trip we provided Nathan with some Yokohama G005's and here are his thoughts:

In contrast to our last trip to Cape York with the wet season wrapping up in 2023, this mission was right at the end of the Dry Season, the build up. We were heading for the very tip of Cape York, Gudang Country, in the hottest part of the year, when the winds drop right off, the ocean is like a sheet of glass, rock bombies are loaded with crayfish, all the wild fruits are coming into season and you’re sweating from the moment you climb out of your tent. Actually you’re sweating all night long.

Now this part of the country is very close to 3000 kms from my home town passing through a range of environments and track surfaces, the perfect opportunity to test a set of tyres that at first glance appear to be engineered for competition rock crawlers. Wet and dry bitumen, corrugated dirt, soft beach sand, bull dust, steep and rocky climbs and a little bit of mud. I saw it all and to be honest these tyres surprised me in a few of those scenarios.

I knew they’d be great in the mud and steep rocky country but I had my doubts on the bitumen, particularly when wet. But I put them through their paces and I was very happy with their performance.

I thought these tyres would be horribly noisy and not suitable for this style of trip but they assured me otherwise.
